Web-GIS and Web-Modelling
Increase spatial awareness and gain more accurate exposure management
Many re/insurers are too caught up with statistics that do not capture a true picture of what they are actually insuring
The aftermath of a natural disaster can be devastating for all involved; however, past experience has also shown that the insurance industry has been relying on inaccurate information.
Following hurricane Katrina, many reinsurers were not aware that their exposure included a significant concentration of properties within high risk areas, highlighting a major lack of geographical awareness. This is largely due to undue reliance on statistics, which do not show where the buildings are in relation to each other. For example, a probalistic model run of a 475-year event does not capture the exposure accumulation and does not allow the analysis of spatial distribution and diversity within a portfolio.
This issue is further compounded by the fact that catastrophe models are also statistically-based. The notable absence of a real-world geographical perspective has proved to be a major contributory factor to inaccurate post-disaster loss estimates and losses that exceed the PML.
eCityRisk's specialist knowledge and expertise produces easy-to-use, affordable geospatial solutions using the most pioneering web-technology to integrate directly into existing business processes, providing the power to manage exposure and risk more effectively and with less uncertainty.
CityRisk's web-GIS and modelling tools are developed around insurers day-to-day and strategic decision making needs. We therefore offer the option of a stand-alone underwriting application, or a custom-made solution to fit in with existing in-house systems.
